NaNoWriMo 2011

Ok, I am taking the plunge.  I signed up to do this thing called NaNoWriMo for the month of November.  For those of you who don’t know what it is, it is National Novel Writing Month.  My goal is to write 50,000 words starting November 1st and ending the 30th.  Right now, I am pretty gung ho about it but we’ll see what happens by the second week.  By then I’ll probably be yanking my hair out and asking myself why in the world I signed up to do this.

The rules of NaNoWriMo say that you have start a novel from scratch but I’m going to be a NaNoWriMo Rebel:  I will be working on GTT.  Right now, I have nearly 50,000 words written but most of it is Mel’s story.  I have nearly nothing written in Benito’s story nor Ebenezer’s story.  So I am going to put the entire manuscript away (no peeking allowed!), start from scratch and write Benito’s and Eb’s story. I have an outline and character sketches (both of which are ok and within the rules) so I know what I need to do.

I’ll be posting here my word counts, my attitude, and my morale as I work through this ginormous endeavor.  Stay tuned!

Good luck! I’ve known about NaNo for a while, but never had the courage to actually try doing that…
